Once again I am much relieved and reassured that you and your "Girls" are on hand twice daily, every day and evidently competent to deal with both routine and unexpected events.
The people that become Cygnet Carers, are chosen after a meticulous and searching recruitment procedure. The method of selection is carefully monitored and structured by the Care Quality Commission with whom Cygnet Care is registered.
All new members of the team are checked by the Criminal Records Bureau which includes their name being passed through the register for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults. All references are taken up with past employers. When this procedure has been fully completed then employment within the community will gradually be introduced.
Carers follow a varied and regular external training programme, delivered by a qualified trainer who is an Education & Quality Co-ordinator for a Children’s Hospice and also a Qualified Nurse.
Every member of the Care Team holds a National Vocational Qualification. They are assessed externally and a high standard of work is expected from all candidates.
The Carers who work for Cygnet Care, many of whom have been with the Company since it was formed in 1994, are committed to delivering dedicated and highly skilled Care to our Clients. The Company places great emphasis on providing continuity of Care staff, reliability, and compatibility between Client and Carer.
The Carers will sometimes arrange afternoon outings to Exmoor (with a cream tea!) or take them shopping.
One Client, who previously owned a canal boat horse, is taken to the Grand Western canal and enjoys going along the tow–path in his wheel-chair.
The Care teams aim, at all times, to enable their Clients to maintain their independence and self-respect however difficult this may be for them.
